Conservation
- What do we know about honeybees?
- Where do they get food from?
- When bees go to flowers, what happens?
Game: Pollinators
- Scatter playing cards face up around the kids in a 6 foot radius
- Scatter more in outside that radius
- Kids Line up
- Rules:
- Kids are bees
- They can take 3 steps (Not hops, jumps, etc) from the starting point (Hive)
- When they get to a card they flip it over to show they went and got all the pollen and nectar
- Everyone gets a turn
- How many cards did the HIVE get?
- Debrief on the other cards they couldn't get, talk about adding another hive
- Repeat with two hives
- Conclude with some facts
- Plants make flowers to attract bees
- Bees go to the flowers
- The flowers turn into fruits and vegetables that we eat
- Without bees we'd lose 1/3rd of all fruits and vegetables
- How can we protect honeybees?
- Plant flowers
- Don't pick flowers
- Don't spray bees
- Don't step on them
